Test Methods

BeFinder is an optical fluorescence method of detecting beryllium. Beryllium from the sample is dissolved in aqueous ammonium bifluoride to which a dye solution is added and the fluorescence measured.

BeFinder is suitable for measuring the most stringent requirements and beryllium can be quantified starting from 0.002 micrograms on the media. This can be used for wipe, air and bulk samples. Using the patented detection solutions from Berylliant (Product HS-3), the machine detection limit in the high resolution mode is 0.2ng.

BeFinder is compatible with the following approved test methods:

ASTM Methods

  • ASTM D7202 Method
Standard Test Method for Determination of Beryllium in the Workplace Using Field-Based Extraction and Fluorescence Detection.
  • ASTM D7458
Standard Test Method for Determination of Beryllium in Soil, Rock, Sediment, and Fly Ash Using Ammonium Bifluoride Extraction and Fluorescence Detection.
